Racing Spirit’s Strong Start at Round 1 of the Power Series
The Racing Spirit team had a fantastic start to the 2025 Power Series this past weekend, with each driver giving their best and securing important points for the team. Round 1 proved to be an exciting and successful event, with solid performances from Connor Kilbride and Tristan de Nobrega, who both made sure the team’s efforts were well-rewarded.
Connor Kilbride’s Consistent Drive in the Spirit Invest Sports & GT and BMW Car Club Cape Town Championship
Connor Kilbride had a busy weekend, taking on double duties in both the Spirit Invest Sports & GT and BMW Car Club Cape Town (BMWCCCT) Championships. In the Sports & GT Class B, Connor showed great focus as he qualified in pole position with his M3 Turbo. Race 1 didn’t come without its challenges, however. Midway through the race, a spark plug issue caused the engine to lose a cylinder, but Connor maintained his composure and worked hard to keep his lead, eventually securing the victory.
The team quickly identified and fixed the issue, and Race 2 saw Connor back to his best. With the car in full working order, he took another win, setting a personal best lap time of 1:13.813, which was enough to break into Class A. It was a great achievement for Connor, and he also claimed the fastest lap in both races, which is a testament to his dedication and the hard work of the team.
In the BMWCCCT Class E Championship, Connor continued his strong showing, qualifying on pole position in the BMW 328i. He drove well in Race 1, securing a well-earned victory after a few close overtakes. Unfortunately, Race 2 was cancelled on the day, but the team was pleased to leave with full points from Race 1.
Tristan de Nobrega’s Impressive Performance in Spirit Invest Sports & GT Class C
Tristan de Nobrega also had a great weekend in the Spirit Invest Sports & GT Class C category, where he qualified on pole position in the team’s naturally aspirated BMW M3. Tristan drove confidently and took two race wins in Class C, earning the maximum points for the weekend. His consistency and smart racing showed that the team’s BMW M3 has the pace to be competitive in Class C, and we’re excited about the season ahead.
Overall Championship Standings and Team Unity
After Round 1, Connor Kilbride leads the overall Sports & GT Championship standings, with Tristan de Nobrega tied in second place. It’s a great start to the season, but we know that there is a lot of work ahead of us. The team is grateful for the results so far and is focused on staying consistent throughout the season.
